Magnificent setting against the Capertee Valley sandstone cliffs, top bird watching location. This the best of the Rylstone-Farm-Stay properties. Goollooinboin Station is a 8200 acre working cattle property located half way between Lithgow and Mudgee in the magnificent Capertee Valley. Surrounded by the acient Wollemi National Park, millions of years old and the second largest enclosed canyon in the world. Come and stay in one of our affordable cottages to experience the spectacular scenery, amazing bird life and tranquillity of this hidden world.
The Capertee Valley is a very popular spot for bird watchers, bush walkers and artists as the valley is surrounded by the Wollemi National Park (the largest wilderness area in NSW) and nestled beneath the spectacular Red Rock Cliffs. Goollooinboin is also brilliant for families; children will have the opportunity to see wildlife such as numerous species of birds, kangaroos, wallabies and wombats to name just a few. Nearby is Dunns Swamp, (1 hour away) which is great for swimming and canoeing and Newnes (1.5 hours away) with it's glow-worm filled railway tunnel
There are two lovely farm cottages to choose from. Both are fully self-contained and equipment with everything you will need for a comfortable stay. All you need to do is relax and enjoy all that nature and a rural setting has to offer. All linen and towelling is supplied. Both cottages now have satellite TV Grove Cottage is a lovely renovated farm cottage with 4 bedrooms. It is located on the main farm at Goollooinboin surrounded by grazing country and an extensive olive grove. Quill Lake is a modern 2 bedroom A fram cottage located just outside the ghost town of Glen Davis, overlooking the pictureqsue Capertee Rover flats. Whilst you are staying, why not purchase some of our farm grown goodies......our very own “Grove Cottage” Extra Virgin Olive Oil which is cold pressed locally and tastes delicious or some farm grown beef, Capertee Vallery wines or fresh citrus in season from the garden Please note there is a phone for incoming calls only. The last major shopping centre coming from the East is Lithgow and coming from West is Mudgee ( there are no shops in the valley).
From Lithgow, take the Mudgee Exit off the Great Western Highway. Travel approimately 45kms until you reach the village of Capertee. Turn right to GLEN DAVIS. Grove Cottage is located on Goollooinboin which is 23kms down the Glen Davis road on the right-hand side. Driveway is 3.5kms. Follow the signs to the office on the left. This the best of the Rylstone-Farm-Stay properties.
Quill Lake is located just outside the ghost town of Glen David. Continue past Goollooinboin to Glen Davis (11kms). Go over the bridge and turn right, keep following the road around to the right for 4kms along The Gullies Road. Quill Lake is No. 180 and is a red A frame house on the right hand side.
