cpr and babe goats

i am a registered nurse in a nicu unit in Idaho. Since part of my job consists of resuscitation of newborns it was put into practice this spring with the birth of boer triplets. As I came home from work one evening I ran to the barn to see the babe goats that were born early in the morning. To my dismay, the smallest goat was laying flat int he corner. Without any thought I picked her up and ran in the house, got my stethescope and did cpr, mouth to mouth, skin to skin to try to warm her up. To the amazement of my new husband (I am a city girl) he came in the room and asked what the heck I was doing. I proceeded to tell him I was doing CPR on the new babe goat. He exclaimed in a sweet soft voice. "Darling, the goat has been dead for hours. I was just getting the mom used to life without it."
