The City of Menlo Park near San Francisco is using goats to eat away unwanted undergrowth in 2 urban parks. The program has been running 7 years. And its as we all know environmentally friendly alternative to toxic chemicals and the polluting mechanical equipment that is usually used to control tall weeds and grass. The service is provided by Ecosystem Concepts, Inc., The way it works is that a goat herder visits the 2 parks at the end of April to assess the grass condition and then 200 male and female goats of all ages are transported in to do the job. When on the job the goat have a shepherd 27/7 to take care of them. Portable electric fencing and herding dogs complete the package. All you need to know is in the boer-goat-blog
