Goat Deaths in Nepal

Around 700 sheep and goats have died over the last 2 weeks following an outbreak of Peste Des Ruminants ( PPR) in the Kalikot region, which lies around 400 km west of Kathmandu. Reports state the sheep and goats died just 4 -5 hours after the disease hit the animals. They say the goats contracted this disease after they were grazed in a remote part of the region. PPR is an acute or sub-acute viral disease of goats and sheep that is characterized by fever, stomatitis, gastro-enteritis arid pneumonia. This looks to be very scary virus!
