Evidently confusion surrounds the imminent (or not) arrival of the annual herd of goats from Oregon that are used rather efficiently to do fire prevention work by grazing a 12-acre piece of Peck Park Canyon in San Pedro in California. Los Angeles parks officials stated that no goats required as they say lack of rain meant little material to eat off. The Chief goat herder Sarah Bunten from Nanny & Billy's Vegetative Management disputes that assessment and says weeds grow with and without rain. Of course the New Zealander report above may claim that eating weeds and reducing fire hazard contributes to global warming, although one short wild fire will release an awful lot of carbon into the atmosphere.
