Goat market Evolution in the Kansas

Demographic changes and the arrival of several diverse immigrant groups is expanding the previously small Kansas goat meat industry. Demand for the goat meat is increasing in line with Middle Eastern, Asian, African, Latin America and Caribbean population growth. The Kansas Meat Goat Association was created in 2000 and now has some 100 members. At Jan. 1, 2006, the total number of milk goats and kids in Kansas totaled 23,000 animals which was 5% up on 2005. national statistics for 2006 totaled 2.8 million head, and that is up from 2.5 million 2005.
