Goats Global Warming
Over in New Zealand the Conservation Department is now targeting both goats and deer as a method to control global warming. The governmental policy discussion document states that these animals "burp" methane gas and also eat large quantities of forest plants, and these would normally absorb carbon dioxide so this contributes to global warming. It’s notable of course they don’t mention New Zealand’s 40 million sheep eating grass though!
The report also states that with sustained control of goats and deer on any 4500-square-kilometre forest block would offset the same volume of carbon emissions that is produced by all gas-fired and coal-fired power stations in New Zealand! Of course NZ also has very large dairy goat milk industry as well
