Namibia Goat Market Report

A report from The Namibian in Windhoek states that goat prices are satisfactory. Being a Kalahari Red goat breeder and having had the good fortune to visit Namibia the story caught my eye. My suggestion is GO! Before the tourists discover the place. I digress! The Namibia Livestock Agency (NLA) has stated that they are happy with the supply and condition of goats at its auctions even though rain has been scarce. Folks this is one dry country I can tell you!

The prices offered for goats remained relatively good however sheep prices were a source down due to oversupply as farmers offloaded stock. Most of the goats are live exported to neighbouring South Africa, and go to Kwazulu-Natal province In January the average goat price ranged around N$13,50 per kg and older goats are around N$10. In March average price was around N$12,50. Farmers continue to offload over concern for deteriorating grazing conditions due to poor rainfall. Ten Namibian dollars = USD$1.40 All you need to know is in the boer-goat-blog
